Testimonials

...Thought the course was great...enjoyed the layout...very different...thought and shot making required...A very tricky course but a good course where you’re asked a lot of questions and have to use every club in your bag. That alone made it an interesting challenge. It’s a fun course and if you go into a round with an open mind and a willingness to accept the unique challenge, you’ll enjoy it. I would love to play it again.'

Golf Course Testimonials & Comments

Are You Ready for Scotland's Ultimate Golf Test?
Very few people have played Guthrie Castle Golf Course, which is set in a private estate and has a membership of one - American millionaire Dan Pena, who owns the castle and built the course eight years ago for his 50th birthday. He wanted it to be the ultimate challenge and, because he was building it for his own amusement with his own money, he deliberately chose to overlook many of the concepts associated with golf course design. Enjoy it for what it is and you'll have a fabulous time in a beautiful setting. If you want a fun day out, it's an almost irresistible lure.

Is this Britain's "ultimate golf challenge?"
Guthrie Castle GC, a private course near Arbroath...difficulty is based on several factors. First, a number of holes are protected by water and offer few bail-out options...the putting surfaces are both universally tiny and invariably crowned...a number of the longer holes are played to sloping fairways that won't hold the ball, and require pinpoint placement...greens guarded by trees that (almost) grow to the edge of the putting surface and US Open-style rough.
